Doug McVay is an activist, writer, researcher, and speaker with a long history in drug policy reform.

Doug is a member of the board of directors for the Common Sense for Drug Policy Foundation. He is the editor of Drug War Facts and maintains the Common Sense family of websites, including: CSDP.org and Drug War Facts. He also created and maintained Drug War Distortions, Managing Chronic Pain, and Addict In The Family. Doug can be followed on Twitter where he’s @DrugPolicyFacts and also @DougMcVay.

In addition to his role on CSDP’s Board, Doug is a member of the Advisory Board for Students for Sensible Drug Policy. He is the web and social media coordinator for Patients Out of Time, a tax-exempt nonprofit focused on issues around medical cannabis and medical/scientific cannabis research. And he does social media and web work with NewsLanc/Real Reporting Foundation, a news and commentary website based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Doug currently produces and hosts Century Of Lies, a weekly radio program that’s distributed through the Pacifica Foundation Radio Network, and Free Culture Radio, a program that airs once a month on public radio station KBOO in Portland, Oregon. Doug is also a news reporter at KBOO and produces an evening newscast.

Doug is a cancer survivor and former medical marijuana patient, and he works to amplify the voices of patients as important stakeholders as the cannabis industry continues to develop.
