About the program: This timely and provocative seminar will include an overview of cannabis, the various cannabinoids (endogenous, phyto-cannabinoids and pharmaceutical cannabinoid products) and the newly discovered endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS) that is present in all humans. By understanding the ECS, it becomes more clear as to how and why cannabis is a safe and effective medication for a wide array of illnesses and conditions. The healthcare professional’s role in patient care and education regarding the safe use of cannabis, including ingestion methodologies and interactions with prescription opiates, will be discussed. State and federal laws regarding cannabis as medicine will also be presented.

There will be short comfort breaks in the morning and afternoon, and a break for lunch. Lunch is on your own.

Presenter: Mary Lynn Mathre, RN, MSN, CARN, is a medical cannabis consultant and addictions nurse consultant, co-founder of Patients Out of Time and Past President of the American Cannabis Nurses Association.
An attorney with expertise in Michigan cannabis law will also present at this seminar.

Refunds in cases of non-attendance (less $20.00 administrative handling fee) will be provided upon notice to Patients Out of Time if received seven (7) days in advance of the seminar. After that time, no refunds will be given.

The venue: The Hagerty Center is a premier waterfront venue for lifelong learning in Traverse City, Michigan. Within steps of downtown Traverse City, the Hagerty Center is situated on Northwestern Michigan College’s Great Lakes Campus along the shores of West Grand Traverse Bay. Directions for travel as well as other information is available on the Hagerty Center website.

This seminar is sponsored by Patients Out of Time, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to educate all disciplines of health care professionals, their specialty and professional organizations, and the public at large about medical cannabis (marijuana).

Also on September 24-25, 2016, the Center for Compassion hosts the first Great Lakes Patient Care Conference in Traverse City. This event, sponsored by the nonprofit Michigan Growers Association, will provide the public, patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to learn about the health benefits of cannabis.
